About Me

I’m a family nurse practitioner and full-time graduate nursing faculty member with an educational doctorate in nursing education. I teach in a graduate nursing program and continue to practice clinically in primary care, which allows me to stay closely connected to both the realities of patient care and the evolving needs of advanced practice nursing education. I have a deep love for teaching. I am especially passionate about creating learning experiences that are engaging, practical, and designed for adult learners — particularly in online and asynchronous environments. Through The Elevated NP, I want to support nurse practitioners and NP educators with resources, strategies, and encouragement that make learning more effective, leadership more accessible, and professional growth feel both achievable and energizing.
How did The Elevated NP start?
The Elevated NP began with a simple realization: nurse practitioners and graduate nursing faculty are often expected to “figure it out” alone. From stepping out of full-time clinical practice and transitioning into teaching, so many of us are handed enormous responsibility with very little guidance. I lived that myself — the uncertainty and the constant feeling of trying to meet expectations without a roadmap.

What changed everything for me was discovering how much joy I felt in nursing education — in teaching, creating, supporting faculty, and finding new ways to make complex concepts engaging and fun for students. I saw firsthand that when faculty feel supported, students thrive, and the entire learning environment becomes richer, more confident, and more human.

Along the way, I built systems, workflows, tools, and teaching approaches that made academic life not just manageable, but energizing. And I kept thinking: Why isn’t this shared anywhere? Why do NP educators have to reinvent the wheel? Where is the space for nurse practitioners who love teaching and want to grow beyond the bedside?

The Elevated NP has become that space — a warm, practical hub for NP and graduate nursing faculty who want to teach with confidence, lead with purpose, and find new creative ways to engage their students.

This community exists to support the educators who shape the future of advanced practice nursing. It’s a place for growth without gatekeeping, teaching without burnout, and leadership without ego.
It is elevation through clarity, creativity, and support.
